Sips & Secrets: Gardens, Herbs, and Women Who Knew Too Much
Sips & Secrets: Gardens, Herbs, and Women Who Knew Too Much
A Women’s History Month Program
Step into a world where gardens were more than beauty. They were survival, resistance, and quiet power.
For centuries, women passed down knowledge of herbs, healing, and household remedies at a time when they weren’t supposed to “know” anything at all. This hands on program explores the hidden history of women herbalists, healers, midwives, and caretakers, and the secrets they cultivated behind garden gates. While sipping a warm or refreshing beverage, participants will learn about women whose knowledge was dismissed, feared, or quietly relied upon, discover the symbolism and historical uses of common herbs, create a fragrant herbal sachet to take home, and plant a small herb to grow, a living reminder of women’s wisdom taking root. The evening blends history, storytelling, and creativity into a relaxed celebration of resilience, knowledge, and the quiet power women carried forward.
